    Catchup is still a work in progress I am sure. Mid week I tried it with the latest wicked APK (since I was trying out the APK), and it was working for the few channels I tested on. Just went downstairs to check it again on the same box and it is not working (buzz or official latest apk). For now, I guess they are concentrating on keeping the rest stable.

    For Pluto channels, it has been like that for over a year (since buzztv 5 was released). It is video player dependant unfortunately. Something in the stream that the Primary player does not like/recognize. When streaming directly the "Pluto" streams, both Primary and Secondary players work fine, so probably something to do with the source server and/or the re-encoding. But this is not something new, this has been like that since the beginning.


    PS: CA: COOKING CHANNEL for the last few days seems to hang after about 15 to 30 seconds (no matter what box or app I use)

    catchup is working for me in the apk there is 210 channels

    go to catch up in apk and youu will see the category and channels available


    you may need to reload your list

    I don’t use the official WickedTV APK:

    Can someone direct me to its latest and safe official release please?
    APK stands for Android Package Kit btw

    Normally “catchup” was built into BuzzTV simple guide under v4.0 and I assume v5.0 software, but after these recent server updates
    all I get is “media format is not supported” error, suggesting I’m missing a critical APK file on my box.

    If I understand correctly “catch-up” only works now as an add on APK file that I need to install on my BuzzTV XRS4500

    Do I understand this correctly and if so is it a file that can be shared here?

    I’ll keep searching for it and more information on this APK subject and possible solve the issue myself, but I’m curious why I didn’t need it before…?��

    Thank you for update on why PlutoTV only works on BuzzTV v5.0 using backup /secondary player only.
    I’ve been running v4.0 for a while and only recently took the v5.0 BuzzTV update and was not aware of this year old distinction.

    Actually,

    I spoke with the developer of buzz TV v5.0 and it was in beta for over a year because of numerous bug issues and only in the last six months (I think last September 2022) was when it was finalized. It has a tendency to crash more frequently when running Android v9.0. It’s much more stable under Android 11.

    Incidentally, it will no longer allow an XRS4500 to update automatically to v5.0 thru the stream unless you first request it from the BuzzTV developer in Las Vegas directly by sending them your MAC address. They rather you use older v4.0 or buy a newer box that runs Android 11 natively like the recently released HD5 dongle or The Classic buzz boxes which is essentially a clone of the XRS4500 with some better options.

    V5.0 still has several known bugs and is considered less stable than older BuzzTV v4.0 and has particularly poor power management of its blue tooth speaker accessories, which is why you may have noticed that your blue tooth speakers will need to be by PAIRED again after you unplug the power to an XRS4500 or it freeze or crash the box at boot up. This was not a problem with v4.0.

    Incidentally I tried that new server URL (ie the APK server) using both ports 25461 and 2086 (with and without /c) and it won’t connect it just hangs at login attempt: “checking portal” than times out after a minute..
    “Can not load portal: failed to connect to new APK.wickediptv.cuz/70.39.xx.xxx (port 2086) from /192.168.x.xxx (port 60392) after 10000ms”

    I believe this means NOT ALL user name/password accounts will be able to login to the new APK server url

    So unless I typed URL in wrong or are using the wrong port #, I’m unable to properly confirm or test the new “catch-up” category that was mentioned today exists now.

    Any suggestions please?

    for 26 months I've had buzztv 5 on my xrs 4500

    I'm sure they know seeing as they explained what an apk is
    they must know that buzztv 5 is an app
    then again that's just an assumption

    Guess it must have been a temporary glitch when I checked earlier today. Tried it again about 2 hours ago and it works fine in the apk.

    On BuzzTV 5 when you try to play anything catchup, it gives you a "Media not supported" message. If I select the catchup and then click to "download" it, it does, but then going into "downloads catchup" and trying to play it, it also gives the same error.

    Just out of curiosity, I tried using the catchup on my old E1 (still running on BuzzTV 4), since many think it is because of BuzzTV 5. Guess what, EXACT same message. So there is something in the catchup stream format that both BuzzTV 4 and 5, do not seem to like.

    This is however only an issue with BuzzTV 5 and wicked combination, since I have used catchup on a few other services in the last 2 months, and they work perfectly fine. Maybe something to do with the catchup "encoding" options. It wasn't perfect, but it did work on the buzz boxes prior to the new server.

    haven't tried it myself but did you try changing stream format
