Not everyone is using the same box. Some are using Dreambox devices, others BuzzTV, others AppleTV, and even generic Android boxes with Tivimate, IPTV Smarters, STBEmu, Perfect Player, etc... So just because your devices needs to be tweaked to watch them (and yes I know you are probably referring to BuzzTV boxes, since I just checked and mine needs to do the same), doesn't mean every box does.

They are 2 different players. Usually the default/primary works best for most. But sometimes there are some stubborn streams, which will only play with secondary/backup player only.
One of the 2 (I don't recall which) is actually VLC.

actually it's secondary/primary and default/backup with primary and backup being the newer buzztv 5

what epg ? canadian tv epg was redone with new epg host last night refresh your box and epg working great on buzz box
some boxes may require offset to be set
