Forecast: Another wet day at Daytona
By Steve Lyttle - charlotteobserver

Monday, Feb. 27, 2012

A low pressure system moving into the Florida peninsula from the Gulf of Mexico could turn this year's Daytona 500 into a Tuesday race.
It was raining at daybreak Monday in Daytona Beach, and National Weather Service meteorologists expect more of the same today. In fact, the weather could go downhill by Monday afternoon.
Steady rain Sunday forced the first-ever postponement of NASCAR's Daytona 500, and the race tentatively is scheduled for noon today. But forecasters are calling for an 80 percent chance of showers, with thunderstorms likely after noon.
"An area of disturbed weather over the eastern Gulf of Mexico will push across central Florida today," said Matt Bragaw, of the Weather Service's office in Melbourne, Fla. "It will bring high rain chances, as well as a chance for afternoon thunderstorms."
Rain fell intermittently during the night, and at 8 a.m., a large area of rain was moving towards the Daytona area.
The news is much better for Tuesday.
Low pressure responsible for today's rain will move into the Atlantic by this evening, and a weak area of high pressure will control Florida's weather Tuesday.
Rain is expected to end later tonight. Tuesday will start quite foggy, but partial clearing is likely by 9 or 10 a.m. After that, the forecast is for partly sunny skies and high temperatures in the upper 70s.

Rain moves Daytona 500 to under the lights
For the first time in history, the Great American Race will start in prime time
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The Daytona 500 is going prime time -- weather permitting.

One day after being postponed by weather for the first time in its long history, NASCAR's biggest race was moved under the lights by more persistent rain that continued in the area Monday morning. The hope had been for the Daytona 500 to go green at 12:13 p.m. ET, but it soon became clear that the elements would not cooperate. Shortly after 10 a.m., series and track officials announced the event had been rescheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

The Daytona 500 - which had never been postponed in its history - has been delayed again.
NASCAR was going to try a noon Eastern start today for 2012's biggest Sprint Cup Series race but has now rescheduled the season opener for 7 tonight. It will be broadcast live on Fox.
Rain continues to fall in the area.
NASCAR President Mike Helton said there was a "reasonable expectation" the race can begin by 7 p.m.

Well they went racing allright...

1st lap Jimmy steps on his Johnson... Which collects a slew of drivers Including
Danica...

Then Gordon Hand Grenades a CrankShaft....

Various problems with Fuel pressure "New Change to Fuel Injection"

High Temps/ Making the opening for the radiator Smaller

Oh lets not forget Lets make the Spoiler Smaller on the back of the car....

Then Finally Good Old Juan Decides to Assault A Jet Drier with his Stock car...

I guess he couldn't take the noise any more and pitted his stock car against it...

Well Stockcar Vs Jet Drier... Who Won.. Neither... Just a whole lot of Smoke and
a Freaking Mess on the track... Juan said he was having a vibration and his
crew told him oh its nothing... Well looked more like something to me as
the rear locked up and he lost it and decided to have a barbecue...... Well
Juan got his burrito Roasted for sure...

Needless to say this has been the weirdest Daytona 500 i have ever witnessed...

Wow... Back to racing lets see if the Goodyear Blimp Explodes
and lands in the center island... heheh...
