I agree, all an HDMI cable is is 5 wires tethered together into 1 for convinience. IMO componet cables give as good a picture as HDMI but then you have 5 wires hanging. I wouldn't spend extra for a "high speed" HDMI cable.

How much faster can an electrical signal pass through a wire?? The input and output of the device can maybe have a faster transfer rate but the wire wont have an impact..
Personaly I would stay away from a HDMI cable labeled high speed.. Its probably made with substandard materials...

actually there is a difference but unless you are running tv studio equipment the idea of hi speed cable at this point is just a gimmick for the average person

well I know HDMI gives a better pic for me but it could just be I have crappy component cables as well. The way I understand the hi speed HDMI as opposed to HDMI is that it has additional connections. Similar to a CAT5 vs CAT6 type of deal

Usually the HDMI cables that are labeled "high speed" or "Ethernet ready" are ones that are version 1.4 which also handle 3D televison. Most of the other cables are version 1.3 which do NOT handle 3DTV.
