Hi, I’m trying find a proper switching technique for my Sonicview 8000. Originally I had it hooked up to 119/118 with a great signal. I then added 129 on a different dish, and they connect on an Axing 4x1 diseqc switch (129 port A, 119/118 port B). They are on generic LNB’s (Not Bev/Dish).

I noticed that when 129 or 119 were hooked directly to the box, it was a great signal. But when both lines were on the box, the signal dropped. I suspect the box doesn’t have the juice to power both lnbs. The result is a lower signal and occasional dropped signals (sunset, late evenings).

I now want to add 91, while also adding power to the FTA connection. My bev sub has two lines from 91 and 82 into a DP34, which sends to the sub receivers. They are standard dish/bev lnbs. No issues.

I now have an extra DP34 switch, as well as a SW44 switch with a power inserter. I want to port out from my sub DP34 switch. Which switch is the best way to go? I believe I need a power inserter, but I’m cautious about adding it without expertise help. Thanks in advance.

First off to clarify: You must have DishPro LNBs for 91&82 as they feed into a DP34, rather than Standard/Legacy LNBs?

You have it correct to feed 119/118 & 129 into a DiSEqC. You can feed that DiSEqC and the DP34 into a SW21 to then feed into your SV8000. When building your switch setup it is important to have your equipment, especially switches grounded. Grounding your equipment to an earth ground will eliminate many switching issues.

I seem to not have the exact pic, however take a look at this one and place 91&82 on the DP34. Use a one 4x1 DiSEqC switch for 119/118 & 129 in place of the 22KHz switches that are in the picture.

Thank you Will Dekkard, The sub lnb's are definitely dish pro. I don't believe I have a 22 switch, but I can pick one up. Do you know if this will also increase the power of the signals to the SV8000? Thanks.

Don't use 22KHz switches. Read my post again, it states to use a 4x1 DiSEqC switch, a DP34, and a SW21 switch. A 22KHz switch can be used in place of the SW21 switch, however I have found that they don't work well in a case were one has a long cable run. Grounding your equipment is paramount. What brand of DiSEqC are you using? I have found that EMP-Centauri are very good and other members have reported that HD Cheita switches are very good as well.

Great, I'll go get a SW21 switch. The DiSEqC I have is called an Axing? It seems pretty solid.
