I've got a 24" dish that is pointed to 119. Can I use a regular size dish (24") with the proper lnb in order to get 118.8/119 or do I need replace my 24" dish with a bigger dish? Also, when blind scanning the transponders for 118.8 & 119, must I blind scan both satellites independently, or will doing one blind scan, find the transponders for both these satellites?

Thanks

ayou might get 118 but a 30 inch dish is recommended for 118.Both sats are set up and scanned individually in your rcvr. As far as blind scanning I am not sure but i dont think its needed

Thanks, I'll give it a shot later this afternoon. It has been 3 years since I left this hobby, hoping for a N3 fix. As I'm no longer optimistic about a fix, I've decided to go IKS. I feel like I'm learning everything all over again. 1) Are any of the international channels working on iks? 2) Will this depend on the server that I use? 3) Can I point my receiver to any server I wish or are certain receivers limited to certain servers?

Thanks.

1) a lot of international channels are working on iks.

2) the channel lineup will depend on what server you choose to subscribe to.

3) depending on the receiver. most newer stbs have an option for newcamd, which allows you to use a private iks service. older receivers may require dongle-devices or other means of connecting

The receiver I'm using is an Openbox S10. I never knew what the newcamd was for, but I just learned that it's used for private iks service. This gives me the option of going public or private, right? From what I've read, private servers require a subscription, while public servers are free. And then there are true private servers, where you need an invitation to get in. Are there advantages to private servers over public servers?

True Private servers have only limited number of ppl, which means less freezing, and more security (IMO) , but you pretty much need to know someone to get in on a True P$, if you find one posted anywhere, well, it's not so "private" anymore...

there may be a couple still offering a trial, not long ago, you could have chose from a number of them to try for free..best to look in the P$ forums and see what you can find..

Thanks for all the replies. I was able to get 118.8/119 with a 24" dish, using the proper LNB . Most transponders come in at 75%. A blind scan is needed if your receiver doesn't come preset with the transponder frequencies. I was surprised that I didn't have to perform two scans individually, for the respective satellites. One scan found the transponders for both of these satellites. The only transponder that I had 0 signal was the 8psk hd transponders. The receiver I'm using is Openbox. It supports 8psk hd. Any idieas as to why it can't get signal on HD 8PSK transponders? I understand that Openbox isn't compatible with 8PSK Turbo, but not 8PSK.

Thanks.
