On Sat 91 my signal quality is in the 35 to 40s on H and in the 70s to 80s in the vertical. Does anyone know if the problem would be in the LNB or in the cable, any help would be appreciated.

Describe your setup in detail .

I'am pointed at 91 with a bracket for 82, separate lines running down to a Disqe switch. 91 port3..82 port4 no problem with 82 high quality.
Tried running 91 straight to receiver no difference.

Was the Q ever higher than it is now?
Is this a new install?

82 is the stronger sat and if this was a new install, as Any has ask, or if the dish moved due to high winds, then it is possible that you need to adjust the dish for a better quality on 91.

had similar issues a while back. an installer friend said to check connections and even cut back end of cable. couplings or any moisture on the ends of cable at connectors can cause this.

Tweek the dish and set the skew

Thanks guys for the input, soon as it warms up a bit going to climb the roof and check it out.Hope its just a case of a connection problem.

The types of LNB's your using would help us a bit, if they are legacy then they require a +18 volts to switch to the "H" polarity and +14 for the vertical, if the dish has been tweaked for maximum "Q" on all satellites (91/81) and nothing has moved then it could be a coax or connection to that LNB.

If they are the DP band stacking type then the coax is the wrong type to that LNB or the LNB is fried...(or the switch is bad)

Describing the types of LNB's your using will help us greatly as we can't read minds. (and my crystal ball is out of those special 7.8 volt battery's)

Yes anyonomus the signal use to be up in the 90s then disappeared last winter.got up on roof this summer and made new connection and added a bracket to mount Lnb along side for 82. Ran the 91 cable straight to the receiver and was getting low quality on H .Moved dish a bit to get a better fix on 82 which is comming in ,in the high 70s.No scew on dish.Hopefully I screwed up in my new connection to the 91 LNB
Much thanks for help.

Thanks Terryl they are not legacy or dish pro Lnbs they are the regular LNBS I'am using two others for picking up 110 & 119 0n another dish
I agree with the bad connection idea..............much thanks

Quite some time ago I too had weak levels on my 91 LNB compared to 82(newer LNB), I swapped it out with a new replacement LNB and levels improved greatly. Sometimes the LNB just gets old and weak. . . .

If low signal is the issue then you should check the coax/connectors and switches(if any).
As the signal is the electrical connection between the LNB and the receiver including the coax and all the connections.
However if it is the Quality that is low.. You are looking at the LNB or dish re-pointing..
As the Q or quality is what the LNB sees from the sat and is what gives you a picture.
Will mentioned the LNB getting old and tired.. If connections are OK, dish point is OK, then the last denominator is the LNB.. replace it..

I'm having trouble seeing how a bad connection could cause one polarity to be weaker than the other--you might have more voltage drop on one pol setting, but if you see any switching then it would seem to be not a problem, and if only a signal trouble, the cable will not be able to determine if the 900MHz+ signal comes from the H or V sides--you will get the same dB drop. I'm thinking LNB only can be the cause. The settings of the dish and LNB might give this and I would test pointing and see what the connections look like, but I would bet on the LNB as problem.

Thanks for your input jvvh5897 soon as it warms up a tad will replace Lnb, it has been up there for over 8 years come to think of it and try a new
connection along with it.
