I keep seeing this XFTA router ad just what is this thing for and what does it do what is open source and why would I want one

i have been playing around with mine for few weeks
and find it is capable of accepting different firmware with ease
and accepts up to 65 servers, i have mine setup as a wireless bridge right now

Another good choice is Buffalo Networks, they make an excellent product and come with DD-WRT factory installed.

The xfta has a modded version of gargoyle which contains rq-sssp client and the wfemu, which allows you to run viewsats, captiveworks, coolsat units on a private server. It has a TTL serial adapter already installed to connect to your receiver.
It would be nice to see some xfta firmware with the cnxemu someday.
