Hi Everyone,
I have been doing a lot of reading on the forum. Thanks for all the wonderful information. Hopefully, I will be able to contribute some useful information soon too. This is my first experience with FTA and I am excited to get going. I originally planned on going with a Limesat Max HD for my reciever but with the new Air out I have decided to wait for the reviews to come in and see if it is worth the going for.

In case anyone notices I did find this diagram on a different forum but I edited it a bit to reflect my plans...

Any feedback or ideas would be great. I have everything now except for the 1000.2 and the receiver.

Thanks!

I move you thread here for dish and switch discussions.

For fta you can use a simple diseqc sw 8x1 or two diseqc 4x1 and one sw21.

Check the next link.

Thanks for moving it to the correct place. I swear I had a reason for using the DPP44 and the DP34 besides just getting the Power Inserter... but I could have been wrong.

Is this really all I need to set up?

Welcome aboard - it looks like you're trying to over complicate things - I'll have to check the thread they moved it to :-)

Your switch requirements will depend upon the type of LNBs you have. If you have a true Dish1000.2 it will have DishPro Plus LNBs and you are correct for using the DPP44 switch with the power insertor as those LNBs are power hogs. The Dish500 could refer to DishPro or Legacy LNBs? The other thing to consider is your location as 82 has a Canada only beam and unless you are in Canada or Northern Border states you will not receive 82. Once you provide these details, I can suggest the best switch solution.

Thanks WillDekkard

Looks like the information I found was outdated and I can not pick up 82. I am in Northern California. Can I still pick up 91?

Then could I just use the LNB-in on the 1000.2 to connect the Dish 500 for 91. Those would then go into the DPP44. The Dish 500 is a DishPro.

Would that work?

Correct, you will NOT be able to receive 82(Nimiq4) from N.California. You will be able to receive 91(Nimiq1) for now. Nimiq1 is to be replaced by Nimiq6 sometime in 2012.

I would advise against using the input port of the Dish1000.2 DPP LNB. You are best to use a dual(Single) DP LNB and input it into the DPP44 switch on port#4. If you use a Twin DP or Twin DPP LNB for 91 then you will need a SW21 switch or a 22KHz switch between the DPP44 switch and the Twin LNB. Simpler to change the LNB to a Dual DP.

Use the power inserter on Rx port #1 of the DPP44 and leave it empty. Then use Rx ports 2,3, & 4 of the DPP44 for FTA receivers.

DPP44 input ports- - - -Port#1:119, Port#2:110, Port#3:129, & Port#4:91

Thanks for the excellent feedback. Couple questions though, Since I already have both the DPP44 and DP34, could I connect the Dish 500 (It is the Twin DP Model) into the DP34 and have that output go into Port 4 on the DPP44?

Also, how do I determine if I should use a SW21 or 22Khz switch or can I use either one and just make sure that it is set up correctly on my receiver?

NO, that won't work. No need for the DP34. Since it is a Twin you will need a SW21 or 22KHz switch between the DPP44 and the Twin. That is why I suggested the Single(Dual) to go into Port#4 of the DPP44. You can use either the SW21 or the 22K, it's up to you. My preference would be to use the SW21(Dish Brand) over the 22KHz switch.
