Hello I have two questions,
one about best set up and the other about the main cable.
--
1. I have two dishes both with 2 lnbs. One is a legacy double lnb with in integrated sw-42 switch the other is 2 separated lnbs connected to a sw21. What will be the best way to have only one main cable going in to the house ? (diseqc, 22k switch, etc). I would like to have the minimal switching out side as I want to have a reliable setup for the winter.
2. The second question is inside switch... I only use one fta at the time (connected to same tv) Is there any way to use one at the time without having to unhook the cable from one stb to put in on the other ? I have red the dangers of a-b switches. I came accross this RCA that states that it can split the sat signal to 2 receivers .. is this the real deal ? Says on the switch: 40-2150 MHz (dc pass on both outputs)
thanks to all for helping !!

Outside, a Diseqc switch is probably going to be the easiest, it will also allow you to get rid of the SW21.

That's just a two way splitter, it won't work for this application. It's not really recommended to run two receivers off the same coax like that, your only real options are to disconnect one receiver and connect the other, or use an A/B switch and be careful to make sure that both receivers are turned off with the back switch before switching from one to the other.

thanks to all for helping !!1 - The legacy twin is a show stopper when it comes to keeping it simple ( If you could replace it with a dptwin/quad you would get away with 1 diseqc switch). I would go from your twin to a sw21 or 22khz ecoda , from your 2nd dish to a diseqc and from diseqc to 2nd port of sw21 . sw21 to receiver.
2 - have you considered using the loopout port on the 1st receiver - sat in on the 2nd one . No need for a switch at all , just make sure only 1 receiver is powered up at a time.

Thanks both for replies.

Yup, that old legacy twin is sometimes a pain LOL. Im keeping it cause antennas are far from each other and it keeps the setup simple (only one wire out of that dish). So the mix will be.... twin to a sw21 or 22k then to the diseqc and to the receiver or the other way around ? what should be the proper way to cascade those switches ??
The loop out is really new to me never crossed my mind! Think it will be the easy fix.
thanks again

As Satchick stated, NO need for the SW21 or 22KHz. Run 1 cable from each LNB(the Twin and the 2 single duals) into 3 ports of a 4x1 DiSEqC switch which then feeds to a receiver.
I think you are really limiting your setup by not running a second feed from the LNBs&DiSEqC to that 2nd receiver. Also there is always that danger that you could potential damage equipment(receivers).

thanks willdekkard..
sometimes, we try to make it harder than it really is !! lol
as for the second point, I only use 1 receiver at a time.

i use twin legacy lnbs ,i run a cable from both ports on lnb to a 3x4 zinwell-13v and 18v -the zinwell gives me 4 outputs for up to 4 recievers to the 1 sat .from there i run short cable from 1 port t diseqc into port 1 -example 119.then on 2nd lnb (110) i do same thing to port 2 on diseqc -for second reciever use another diseqc and run cable o where you want 2nd reciever ,this is simple setup -with 2 recievers running at same time it is very important to ground dish and switches.

thanks snake.. will write that setup down too.
@burnsy: yes tv has lots of inputs. I only use receiver #2 as a backup. So I only want one main cable comming into the house and not 2.
