We were on this 22 mile long lake once when I learned the hard way not to get too close to the inlet end. The boat suddenly came to a stop and I didn't have a clue as to why. I jumped out and landed thigh deep in the silt. Good thing I had a few drinks in me cause pushing that thing out when I was burried in silt was no fun at all lol. Lesson learned well...bought a depth finder for the next time out.

OMG. puke?

In Dec 1972 I travelled on the good ship Arcadia from Vancouver Canada to Australia. On the way to Hawaii we ran into a storm. I was good for two days or so til it died down, when I learned about the eye of a storm. We passed through that nice calm eye with black on all horizons, really calm sea.

We re-entered the storm, I went to the dining room which seated 1000 or so, and boldly ordered Duck L'orange (sp). There were only a handful of passengers in the room, lots of bored waiters. Well, one bite and I ran for the door as all the previously bored waiters laughed their asses off. I entered the washroom across the hall, but all the stalls were taken...by pukoids, I picked an available sink and wretched my guts. Ever see Sylvester in the cartoons when Tweety rocked a picture in the porthole and Sylvester turned green? Swear to god, I looked up from the sink and my face WAS green.

Otherwise, a lovely cruise. :)

I got lots of stories. I grew up on the water. All my relatives either were shrimpers or own marinas. so lets start with hurricanes. I had to work the docks during hurricanes. One time I was blown off the dock and swept a couple miles down the creek (our creeks are bigger than most rivers) , that's not so bad but walking back against a hurricane SUCKS. Then I got yelled at for leaving.

Have you ever had to nail a board over a hole on a wooden hull boat under water while it's sinking?
paddling home sucks
Swimming home is worse
