Here are scenarios for the 14 drivers who have a chance at the final three Chase spots:
Dale Earnhardt Jr.: Finish of 20th or better at Richmond, or finish fewer than 25 points behind Brad Keselowski. Would get at least wild card if Paul Menard, Marcos Ambrose and David Ragan finish outside the top 20 in the standings.
Tony Stewart: Finish of 18th or better, or finish fewer than 23 points behind Brad Keselowski.
Denny Hamlin: Locks himself in with victory. Clinches if AJ Allmendinger, Clint Bowyer, Greg Biffle, Martin Truex Jr., Kasey Kahne, Joey Logano, Menard, Ambrose or Ragan don't win at Richmond. Clinches if one of those drivers wins and Keselowski supplants Earnhardt or Stewart in the top 10. Clinches if Allmendinger, Bowyer, Biffle, Truex, Kahne or Logano wins and Hamlin remains ahead of the winning driver in the standings. Clinches by beating Stewart by 42 points at Richmond.
AJ Allmendinger: Win at Richmond and either Keselowski supplants Earnhardt or Stewart in the top 10 or Allmendinger finishes 12 points ahead of Hamlin at Richmond.
Clint Bowyer: Win at Richmond and Keselowski supplants Earnhardt or Stewart in the top 10 or Bowyer finishes 12 points ahead of Hamlin at Richmond.
Greg Biffle: Win at Richmond s and Keselowski supplants Earnhardt or Stewart in the top 10 or Biffle finishes 29 points ahead of Hamlin at Richmond.
Martin Truex Jr.: Win at Richmond and Keselowski supplants Earnhardt or Stewart in the top 10 or Truex finishes 34 points ahead of Hamlin at Richmond.
Kasey Kahne: Win at Richmond and Keselowski supplants Earnhardt or Stewart in the top 10 or Kahne finishes 43 points ahead of Hamlin at Richmond.
Joey Logano: Win at Richmond and Keselowski supplants Earnhardt or Stewart in the top 10 or Hamlin fails to start the race.
Mark Martin: Win at Richmond and Keselowski supplants Earnhardt or Stewart in the top 10.
Paul Menard: Win at Richmond.
Marcos Ambrose: Win at Richmond and move back into the top 20.
Juan Pablo Montoya: Win at Richmond and move back into the top 20, and if Keselowski supplants Earnhardt or Stewart in the top 10.
David Ragan: Win at Richmond and move back into the top 20.
