OK all you East coasters, time to button up the hatches, check those dish bolts and mounts to see if they are nice and tight, because Hurricane Irene is on its way.
Be safe and get out of the low lying areas along the coast and inland coastal river valleys.
Predicted path is from South Carolina to Rhode Island, true path could run right through NYC area
Might be a CAT 4 by the time it gets there.
Path estimates can be found here.

Thanks for the heads up Terryl, I'm a bit further in close to the Quebec border, peeps in the Maritimes and further east need to be prepared, especially Newfoundland in Canada.

NASA TV had some remarkable video from the space station on it this morning, they will more then likely repeat it all day, the space station went right over the eye on one of its passes, they said it's cloud cover was from Cuba to the south, to South Carolina in the North, that's a very big storm, I will stick to my earthquakes and volcano's.

Well we felt the trimmer up and down the east coast so I guess we will do the same with Irene. We like passing things around on the east coast that way no one feels left out. lol

LOL been there done that! Never did it again. Got stuck on Georges Bank in one of those. 50 foot waves, was just wonderful. Get on top of a wave all you could see was sky, get in between waves and all you could see was water 40 feet above you. Couldn't even lay down as it would bounce you out of the bunk. That was the last time I went anymore than 3 miles off shore LOL

If I heard right on TWC they said Irene was about 430 miles wide. That would cover a bit of real estate.

Irene has been down graded to a CAT-2, hopefully it will drop lower before it hits land.
The further it tracks East out in the Atlantic the colder the water, the cold water will weaken the storm.

I on the Delaware Bay and expected 80-100 mph winds, 7-10 inches rain, and with a full moon and high tides tonight, could be 6 to 9 feet swells on top of the 3-6 high tide/full moon combination. Could be an interesting night. And believe it or not I could not find a generator locally anywhere in the last three days.
I did take down my 39" TFTA motorized dish. It may of flew all the way to Canada.
So far, from my Davis weather station up to 10 mph and 0.89 inches of rain. What is really going to hurt us is that the month of August had already set a record as being the wettest August on record. Can you say downed trees!

I took down my primestar 1meter but left the motorized 80cm up.
I will try to aim to avoid losing it when the time comes.
At least weather channel is still working on 72w.

Well I lost my 18 X 24 about 2 hours ago and all the local ABC channels, Philly and NY, are covering Irene so it took me a while to find the Nascar race tonight.
At this time I have 2.25" of water, wind steady at 29, gusting to 40mph and the lights are blinking...
And being from Texas, I know as of now, 95% of state is in a severe drought and even that rotten Lone Star beer can't help that. Try Pearl, it is even worse (although Janis liked it).
