Howdy, when cleaning out a never used closet I found some old stamps, I looked some up on line and found that some may be worth more then whats marked on them.
I have two stamps of the same type they are Mayflower tricentennial 1 cent stamps, one looks just like all the others, the second has a flaw in it, a round white dot in the left denomination right next to the 1 (o1) anyone have any idea on what that is, I cant find anything on that type of mark.

Here is a photo, the one on the right is normal, the one on the left has a white dot next to the 1 on the left side denomination.

So no one plays with these funny sticky things?
I need to know if this is a printing error and not a common mark, I want to pay off the ranch.

Thanks Ramon I've seen that one, but it doesn't have the little white dot like the other one to the left in my photo, mine could pay off the ranch, or buy a pizza.

I used to collect when I was a kid, but quickly lost interest to other things back then.
I did some searches, and found nothing related to "error" in conjunction to "mayflower stamp" and other combinations.
My first guess, based on there are no search hits for errors with this stamp, that it might be a simple printing error that is too common to call an error. Also when I collected baseball cards, errors were normally not valuable errors, until a corrected version replaced it, and it was limited quantity.
My first instinct would be to post your findings on one of the several stamp forums I seen out there, and ask this same question there.
Secondly, if you have one in your area, I would be inclined to stop by your local card, coin, stamp collector retailer, and ask them to appraise it. At the very least you have a conversation piece to talk to them about, and then you could maybe stop by a get a pizza on the way home (maybe at the treat of the collector!)

Speaking of error stamps....
This one I remember the most as it was popular during the time I started collecting, and I thought (as a kid) it would be awesome to have one. Little did I know that only 100 existed, and would most likely never see one.

Of course I am sure we have all see the Inverted Jenny, one of the most expesive stamps in the U.S. collection world.

Yah I'd love to find one of those in the box, but I'm just trying to find anyone that may know what the mark means on the stamp in the photo I posted, that way I can save a trip to town if it means nothing.

I fooled around with stamps years ago but lost interest like DD. I would hang on to it until I found out. That maybe your lotto ticket. lol Before my father pasted away years ago he swore he had one of those double die 1955 pennies. But spent it at the time he had it thinking it was his eye site. Instead of x marks the spot the spot may mark the spot.

Might post on a stamp collecting forum then.

It's probably a corner stamp.... if this is the case it's rare but every sheet would have at least one similar mark so not extremely rare unless the stamps themselves are very rare. The mark could have been caused by hanging the sheets after printing so that they would dry without sticking together...This is just a guess. I'm no philatelist.

I've been to over a hundred web sites looking for this stamp and none of them show this mark, I have sent out 30 E-mails and only had the one answer.
