which sized dish do i need for these birds? - 110/118.75/119

do i need a 36 inch or will the 24 elliptical one work as well?

also which kind of switch do i need to output this to 2 TV's?

doing a second set-up for 110/119/129. which sized dish would i need, 24 or 36 sized?

for first setup 18" is good enough with 1 circular lnb and 1 118/119 special lnb.
for 2nd setup elliptical is your best bet.
for 2nd tv, input can come from one box using coaxial output for one tv and composite, component or hdmi for 2nd tv.
both tv will display the same channel.
to watch different channels you need 2 boxes and all lnb must be dual output.

Your best bet is to go to dishpointer.com and enter your location, then use the drop down to see the recommended dish sizes for your location using the link you'll see. It can vary greatly by where you are. 118, for instance, can be received in some areas with a small dish, but not in others. You can look at the dishes that Dish itself uses as a guide for the majority of locations.

Check out dish pointer or sat beams for the estimated dish size for your location for each sat you want to get.

118 is the weaker of them all so pay special attention to that one

which sized dish do i need for these birds? - 91/82 Bev

I have a circular 20" and a 24x18 oval. Would either of these two work for FTA setup? The 20" has been working fine for standard Bev, just curious if it can be used for FTA too. I checked out dishpointer.com to see what sizes are recommended for my area but all I get is a beta message with not actual numbers

Thanks!

the 24x18 oval would work very nice, slap 2 good quality LNB's on that hummer and your set.

And next time, to look up the size dish needed, use satbeams.com, select the satellite from the list and hit the little globe, this will give you a foot print map of the bird, zoom into your location and click on it with your mouse, this should give you the estimated dish size for your location.

And the dish you have will be too small for Linear FTA satellites like 97W, a 33" to a 39" would work better.

Thanks! I overlooked that URL in the previous posts. Ill test with the 20" unit and see. The thing looks huge when you compare it to the 24x18, guess that just optical illusion haha.

The 24x18 is an elliptical dish, it is setup to better receive more then one satellite at a time, (it has a wider receive beamwidth) you may have better luck with that one.

Alright, after seeing the last post took that to mind then went over to a friends garage and found a 23x18 dish, as I might be doing 2 installs, so perhaps I can get both 24x18 and 23x18 to work? Time will tell I guess haha
