Ok I have a 32" sylvania analog tv. The color is washed out and also has horizontal stripes (light white)that show up on the screen. The picture it's self seems clear. Is this something a back yard repair man could fix like me? I know it is a cheap tv from jump but times are tough. Any one run across this? Bad board, caps and or demon? :noidea:

Well the horizontal strips could be the horizontal sync circuit is going bad, the bad thing is going to find a tube tester, and if the pic tube is going your going to be OFL, they use to have a picture tube booster to give it a few more years.
Model # would help me find some schematics somewhere.
The color washing out could be the color sync section is going flat, need schematics to help you better.

C/P from the other thread...
Here ya go DD : SRT2232S. Just a little back ground on this thing. I bought it around 2005 and it worked good for about 2yrs. One day I went to turn it on and all it would do is click and click like it was trying to come but wouldn't. Been sitting in the living room sence then. My other tv finally died so I thought I would give this 32" sylvania another go. I plugged it back up and it started the clicking again so I left it plugged up for a while and it finally came on. I noticed back then before it started the clicking deal that the color just wasn't right. The two problems maybe related. :noidea: So all and all the tv is about 7yrs old but playing time is about 2yrs. Thanks DD.

the clicking is due to a bad cap in the standby regulator circut. It is usually right near the relay 220 ufd or more @ 50 volts. The other guys problem with light retrace lines or a shadow on the side of the screen is also due to a bad capacitor but it is in the secondary of the horizontal output transformer . usually 10ufd @160 volts. Cheers

Any experience with a mitsubishi WS-65809 rear projection TV with a version 18 chassis that has the error code 23 (Horizontial Deflection Error)?

but times are tough.
check out your local craigslist (section "FREE") you'll find alot of those TV's for free, just go and pick it up. it will be cheaper then buying (and guessing) parts for your old tv. if you really "lucky" you can get a 50 inch (analog) tv for free

Consumer reports advises dumping any tv that is between 5 to 7 years i this is on upper limit and has mutiple problems that would take a good bit of time to fix and maybe a few dollars of parts.the washed out color could be color pic tube tracking and would need a shot from color pic tube tester booster a step up coil on neck of tube will brighten but not cure tracking.leaving it just sit a not get played causes almost all eletronics caps to go bad even moving mechanical like vcr.best advice is yostar said check around for a working one ,32 sitting and working here i can pickup at building savage yard for $60 because noone wants them.
