Well Congratulations goes out to Brian Burke who once again will be stuck with a yet another sub par line-up for the up comming 2011/12 Season. Unwilling to part with Nazem Kadri, Burke once again has failed to land Brad Richards, Jeff Carter or even Paul Stastny. The flyers demanded Nikolai Kulemin and Kadri plus a 2nd or 3rd round 2012 pick for Richards (which was too high of a price) but could have gotten Jeff Carter, a proven finisher, who's ability to score the clutch game winning/momentum changing goals, for a high 2012 pick and Kadri. That was a deal that should have been made. Now with the Leafs close to the cap, thanks to poor overpaid signings like Mike Komisarek as just one example, have still yet signed Luke Schenn, Clarke MacArthur as well as the far more modestly priced Tyler Bozak, Darryl Boyce, Tim Brent, Joey Crabb, J.S. Giguere and Matt Lashoff. Depending who Colorado drafts, it is looking even less likely that Burke will even be able to land a deal to obtain even a modest Paul Statsny, who comes with an over priced 6.6mil contract. So The Leafs chances of obtaining a legit top 3 or 6 centerman is now looking impossible. Even making a deal with a desparately capped out Tampa Bay team, who still have been able to re-sign Steven Stamkos, is not looking good either. It would be a safe bet to expect to see yet another 82 game only season again next year.
