since the connection was your neighbors you can either shut down the wireless if your using the powerline adapters but if you need the wireless part just add a password as it is only for wireless access and will not effect any wired devices (the powerline adapter would be considered a wired device)

In order for us to help, you'll need to post the make and model of your router.

General instructions:

-Log into your router's admin panel by typing it's IP address into your web browser and entering your username and password (these will be the default if you never configured the unit)

-Navigate to the Wireless Security panel

-Enable the strongest encryption that all of your devices support (Most hardware nowadays supports WPA2)

-Create the encryption key, you can make up your own 26-character hexadecimal string, or enter a plain text passphrase and let the router create the key. Either way, write down both the passphrase (if you used one) AND the 26-charecter Hex string. You'll need this key to configure your devices

-Save your settings

--------

You'll also want to change the administrator username and password. Also change the network SSID, if you haven't already. This makes it harder to identify the brand of router you have.

Of course, if you don't use wireless at all, turn the radio off.
