View Full Version : Transponder signal on 129W

My signal strength is inversely proportional to the transponder number on 129W. I get a signal in the 80's on TP17 and it steps down until TP31 & TP32 which are at around 30% and 10%. I just replaced all the connections with new compression fittings and also swapped in the LNB from my Bev sub; before I did that I had zero signal on the last three TPs.

My nFusion HD is hooked up to 110, 119 & 129, 129 is on a separate 20" dish, I do have about 100' of good quality expensive coax, and I'm getting signals in the high 90's on 110 and 119. And I'm in the Toronto area.

Any ideas?

Have you tried tweaking the dish for a better signal? Put it on one of the weak tps and grab the edge of the dish from behind and pull on it to see if the signal changes. That will give you an idea of the best way to move it.

That's a good idea. Now that I have better connectors I may have more luck with tweaking the dish. I'll try it Saturday and report back.
Thanks.

Well, it seems that the switch is on the way out. I checked my signal strength today and it was in the 50's on the first few 129 transponders and zero on the rest. Also, 110 and 119 were down from the 90's to the 50's. At first I blamed the dogs for playing too hard near the dish and cables, then I thought the below zero temperatures had done something, so I bypassed the switch and connected to 129 directly using a simple F/F connector that I had used before while sighting in 129 (and getting poor signals). Now I was tearing my hair out because I was still getting a bad signal, so the switch wasn't the problem, but that didn't explain why 110 and 119 were so low. Finally, in desperation, I replaced the connector with my satellite finder. Amazing - my signals ranged from the 90's to the 70's, nothing lower. It seems that the switch was on the way out and the connector had been bad all along. No wonder it has taken me two weeks to get 129 working properly!!!

Thanks for your help.
