According to The Wrestling Globe Newsletter, there are stories making the rounds that Ric Flair called Vince McMahon shortly before signing a contract with Hulk Hogan.
Apparently, a few weeks went by before WWE made him a substantial offer to no-show the Hulkamania tour but by then he had already committed and signed with Hogan
