More from Kevin Conway on his run-in with Robby Gordon at Vegas
Late Monday, NASCAR driver Kevin Conway released a statement further describing his run-in with Robby Gordon Friday afternoon at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Gordon was placed on indefinite probation by NASCAR for his role in the incident. Conway was not penalized. Conway filed a complaint with the Las Vegas Police Department on Friday night.

Here is the statement in its entirety:

“I don’t mind stiff competition, but I want to make sure the hard facts are told. First and foremost, I love being a part of NASCAR and have worked very hard to earn the privilege of competing in the Sprint Cup Series. On Friday night, Robby Gordon, who has a long history of issues in NASCAR decided to ambush me in the garage area at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, completely unprovoked. Robby even confronted Joe Nemechek, my car owner, on pit road during Cup Series qualifying shoving him and telling him that he was looking for me and going to assault me. We have many witnesses including a crew chief that signed a police report documenting the truth of his physical attack on me.

"Situations like this are not good for our sport. It’s one thing if we were racing each other and I wrecked him or he wrecked me, that’s an entirely different situation. It’s very unfortunate that he chose to physically attack me to address his rage. Our fans, sponsors and NASCAR expect and deserve more from our competitors than this bullish, illegal behavior that was displayed by Robby against me.”

They are obviously not telling the whole story on what is the "fuel to the fire".

If you all remember correctly....Kevin Conway drove the number 7 car for part of the season last year for Robby Gordon, which is part of the fall out. Also has something to do with some sponsership fall out from "extenze".

I guess Robby and Kevin are feuding over who needs the "extenze" more.

LAS VEGAS – NASCAR on Saturday placed Robby Gordon on indefinite probation following a physical altercation with driver Kevin Conway in the garage area at Las Vegas Motor Speedway late Friday afternoon.

Driver Kevin Conway filed a misdemeanor battery complaint against Gordon, a Las Vegas Police Department spokeswoman said. Police are expected to interview witnesses before turning the matter over the prosecutors.

NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp was asked about the incident Friday night. Tharp told the Observer and ThatsRacin.com at the time that he was unaware of the incident or any NASCAR involvement.

Several people had seen Gordon being escorted to the NASCAR hauler shortly after the drivers' confrontation.

Saturday morning, Tharp announced that Gordon had been placed on probation.

“His actions were brought to our attention early (Friday) evening,” Tharp said. “We met this morning and reviewed the situation and have reacted accordingly.”

Conway was not penalized.

Conway declined to comment Saturday and referred inquiries to the police.

Gordon had not commented publicly and was participating in Cup practice at the 1.5-mile track.

Conway briefly drove for Gordon in the series last season. The relationship that ended with a pair of lawsuits.

Gordon sued a Conway sponsor, Extenze, in a California court, claiming bills had not been paid. Conway sued Gordon in North Carolina, claiming he was due $27,000 earned through the rookie of the year program.
