firs of all thank you for stopping by and checking out my post...sorry if its in the wrong forum. Well ive been doing some reading all over but i still have no asnwer. I tried setting up my dish to work with my SV like i had it before i moved. well now when i try to lock on one of the sats the signal jumps but then quality stays at zero then i move it a little bit and the quality jumps and the signal stays at zero???? this has never happened to me before. any ideas? i thought that the signal stayed on no matter what that just basically tells you that your LNB's are working...??? i tried to different LNB's for this dish and still back to square one...can you guys lead me in the right direction? thank you very much.

The important thing is to get Q so you are able to scan channels.I have 100Q and 0 signal on sat 110 on my sv8000.So I wouldnt worry to much about that.My is working perfectly and I have always had zero for signal on 110.It wont affect when you scan.

wow! thats why i love these forums you always have someone that will help you out...so when i get quality nothing shows up on the top right corner so how do i know if i got the sat that im looking for locked on...you know when you look for 110 you will see "110" on the top right corner...well in my case i dont see anything but i know im getting something because the Q is in the 50's

I have 110 showing on the top right corner and have 100Q and 0 for signal.I believe you need to get Q up in the 70s or 80s range to scan.So you may need to adjust your dish.I just checked my rec and you could try tp 12326 20000 H 7/8 and see how much Q you get. I have 100 on it.

Some (not all) receivers show S=0 because the signal is too strong. If you have an amplifier in line, please remove that, it does not help and is not needed. The most important is the quality Q. I had a similar situation on 97W and had to fine tune the lnb and gained quality from Q=84 to Q=100. Do you use a fancy switch? Than you can use the fine tunning and get the best quality. Important is quality like you were already told. Move the dish so you can get the best Q. S=0 is a very good sign, means you have a very strong signal, but like I said too strong is not good also. Good luck.

Having the wrong setting for the satellite transponder modulation will affect the "S" reading, if your looking at a TP that is using QPSK DVB-S modulation and for some resion the receiver’s TP modulation setting was set to DVB-S2 you wont get an “S” reading, but you shouldn’t get “Q” ether, could be something in the receivers software as the “S” and “Q” readings are done through software.

The way you describe you have S=0 and Q jumps up and down. Move slowly the dish left-right until the Q is the best. Tighten the bolts. Than move the dish up-down until the Q is even better. Tighten the bolts for elevation. Now you are good to go. Just keep in mind that once you get quality wait for a little bit and the receiver should tell you on which satellite you are. Make sure you are on the one you want to orient the dish. Than scan. It must work. Ignore S=0.

But something is still wrong somewhere as their should be an "S" reading if the receiver is set right..

The "S" reading is the strength of the RF signal from the LNB to the receiver, (it's LO output) this level is sampled by an analog circuit then run into a A/D circuit and then displayed as a bar on the receivers setup screen by the receivers software, something is wrong if the "S" is zero.

*update* i fianlly took a small tv to the roof and got to work...well finally i got two sats 110/119, im using a dish 1000.2 now the funny thing is that i can get 110 and 119 when i use different port settings...usually is port 1 for 119 and port 2 for 110 right? well i have to use port 1 for 110 and port 3 for 119 and thats the only way i can get them to work with good signal and 100% quality....is this ok? one last thing 129....how hard is it to catch that sat...i tried just a bit looking for it but i was scared to screw up the other two sats that i had already got where i wanted them...if you guys can give me some advice i would really appreaciate it. byt the way im using SV8000HD
