Here in SW Ontario the weather is giving us a little jump on Spring. It`s been 50+ degress here for the last couple days but as of tomorrow it`s gonna get cold again. The snow that was left from the 2 major storms we`ve had is pretty much melted into the pools of water in our yards and now is a perfect time to pump it off before the ground gets saturated again by the spring rains. A few years ago I dug out what resembles a sump pit in my back yard and covered it with a patio stone. When ever we have a situation that requires it I lift the stone and drop in a submersible and begin pumping out to the sewer. A small electrical pump ($100) can be hooked up to your hose and begin pumping. I opted for a smaller pump with an auto shut off so I wouldn`t have to keep a constant eye on it---when the pit goes dry the pump shuts off and waits for the leaching of the ground to fill the pit again. Just a tip to keep some of the water out of your yard before the floods of spring that can cause major problems.
