This link was circulating around work today, and while no one will ever know how that tank blew it's a good reminder to drain the tank after each use, and make sure the unit is in good condition.

I wonder if hydro-testing by a reputable technician would have uncovered that defect? I know other tanks need to be hydrotested, maybe it's a good idea for compressors too, as they get older?

Fantastic story satchick..thanks
Great idea to have them hydrostated but in order to do it..The tank must fit in the chamber and immersed in water ,then filled with water and pressurized.
Most hydrostating tanks are not equipped to allow an air compressor tank to be inserted..
I am sure there would be a proper chamber for them but with so many shapes and sizes and fittings..I am assuming it would be cost prohibitive for the average business.
But I have been wrong before..lol
