Cubs sign Grabow to two-year deal

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Reliever John Grabow signed a two-year $7.5 million deal with the Chicago Cubs on Friday, adding an experienced arm to a young bullpen.

Grabow, 31, was acquired by the Cubs in a mid-season trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates. The left-hander made a career high 75 appearances posting a 3-0 record with a 3.36 era.

"I pretty much let everyone know before I left (at the end of the season) that I wanted to come back," said Grabow on the Cubs website (chicago.cubs.mlb.com). "It's a good situation for me and my family and for the Cubs. They brought me in there, they made a trade to bring me there and I fit in right away."

The Grabow signing signaled the opening of the free agent market on Friday with over 170 players looking to make deals.
