Damaged TP-Link Antenna (TL-ANT2424B)
So very disappointed with myself right now. I purchased a bunch of these TP-Link TL-WA5210G 2.4GHz High Power
Wireless Outdoor CPE Access point units, so far I am pleased, they could use a firmware upgrade, however, I digress.
I wanted to see how much further I could pickup so I purchased the outdoor grid antenna (TL-ANT2424B), went to my
computer store and purchased the pigtail connecter. Went up on my roof, clamped down my antenna to my tripod and
connected it all up. Went down to my lab to conduct a long range scan of the neighborhood. And, yes, you guessed it,
bang, my tripod failed and smashed the end of this brand new antenna. Serves me right to go up there on a somewhat
windy day, my lesson learned. Anyway, my question is, I did a quick repair and now I am testing in my basement. I
tested with just the outdoor unit and managed to scan a few WiFi Signals, connected my outdoor antenna (switched the
unit to external antenna) and I am not grabbing nearly as many as I thought.
Second question, this grid antenna should be able to pickup and also send a signal yes? I have attached a couple of
small pictures to show all what I mean. Does the small grid need to be touching the copper on the exposed part?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance
