thinking about finally getting a blackberry and just wondering what's the best BB available right now? I am with Telus in Canada if that helps narrow it down...done a bit of looking around but not sure which one to get...any ideas/opinions/reviews from our members here?? Not looking for review sites I can google that just curious what you people think from personal experience.

I've had 4 of them...most recently the Tour. I liked them all but the Tour was best. It's pretty much the same as the Curve...but the Tour is a Global Device. And because of that it has some features that the Curve doesn't have (True of Storm2 as well). For instance, with the Curve...it's GPS is not fully functioning. Therefore it won't work with some GPS mapping Apps. i.e. Golf GPS (which was important to me). To be truthful...you could still get it to work but you had to use a bluetooth slave GPS unit (referred to as a "puck") in order to get it to work. Whereas with the Tour these types of Apps work without jumping through hoops and extra expenditure.

The biggest downside for me with the Curve & the Tour...was the size of the display. In this day & age with so many phones having huge vibrant displays, I was growing weary of straining my eyes to look at my phone. So I'm gonna come completely clean with you. Though the Blackberry's are awesome phones, for the first time in 8 years I switched platforms and bought an HTC Droid Incredible. I've only had it a short time but I must say, aside from the incredible (no pun intended) size & clarity of the viewing screen...the speed & massive variety & availability of Apps has me a bit in awe. To me it seems like some of the other platforms are leaving RIM in the dust.

That's hard for me to say because I have been a staunch BB supporter for many, many years. But that is my honest assesment.

Now having said all that, I can still recommend the Tour. And I believe RIM has fixed all the Storm hicups by replacing it with the Storm 2. So if you end up going BB those would be my recommendations. (assuming they are available in the Telus line)

Any way you slice it...I of course wish you luck!

Im looking at your date and Im sure its too late, but personally I have had a few bb. Currently a curve. An iphone and the new motoroloa milestone. And although I am amac guy, I favour the milestone. Fast fast fast. Touchscreen and slide out hard pad. A real bonus.

Curious what you went with and what you think?

The Google OS phones are going to give Apple a run for their money.. Google wants that market and they have deep pockets..Its also an open system so no proprietary apps..Which is Blackberry's and apples shortcomming..
I just got a blackberry and the screen is definitely small. I'm not complaining , the company pays for the phone and the monthly bill. If it was my choice I would go with one of the new HTC's they seem to be the new star in the field..

I find the best Blackberries are the ones deeper in the bush, the bears and birds cant get to them as the thorns protect them better.

depends newf what you're going to be using your new device for, if it is just for entertainment, then no question, iPhone, if you're using it for work then BB,

I've used BB for years, then got a iPhone 3G for xmas last year, email set up, I had to take it to Telus for them to set up my work email, took 2 hours for the guy to do that. Email stopped working in May, and then I finally got it to work last month.

Went on 2 vacation trips last year to the US, took my old BB Curve, set up my work email in less than a minute.

This past xmas, my sweets gave me a Torch, that too took 2 minutes for me to set up my work email, I entered my password wrong LOL.

So for a work device, BB all the way, although the 3G is slow
Entertainment, iPhone,,, pics, apps, video, you tube etc, it's great, it's a computer with a phone option

Battery life sucks for the iPhone, and is ok for the BB Torch.
So after a year on using the iPhone and my sweets listening me Biatch about, the BB Torch is a great unit, huge improvement from the old BB's.

Good luck

Yes on my ipod Wes,that's why I think the IPhone would be a great option and typing on the ipod is sweet compared to a blackberry,I tried on and took it back,my eyes aren't what they use to be...small print on the BB..jmo

really eh. See I have an iphone 3g and was finding the texting to be a complete pain. Always misspellings and it would autocorrect but it would be garbage. So I found myself continually going over the errors and the grammer. I recently picked up a motorola milestone. It has the slide out hard key pad as well as touchscreen. I find it so much better, I also find the unit much faster.

The more I started spending time here and would be surfing the site and posting, Iphone got to be such a headache.

Some of the apps are cool, so I can still switch out the sim card, but I certainly am not a fan of the iphone for continuous or steady typing.

Could also be my fat fingers! :tehe:

Its a very impressive unit. I'm thoroughly impressed and don't think I would go back to bb. I see how limited they are in many ways.

One time I tried to do some surfing and posting on this site via bb. That was a joke. Probably could have done 10 posts in the time it took to decifer and read one thread on the bb.

Its a solid reliable and very versitile little unit

I know its a bit off topic from the title, but I didnt see a slide out keyboard on that bionic.

Persoanly I find typing on the touchscreen such a headache. So frustrating. Will be interesting to see when its released tho

i will recommend you BlackBerry Curve 8500 Series, it is simply marvelous. It have tactile keyboard with well-spaced keys. Responsive optical trackpad. Dedicated media keys on top. T-Mobile version allows calls over Wi-Fi, although it is sometimes unstable and spotty.
