doesn anyone know where i can get a box that can move my c-band dish and when u hook it up it shows on the tv?
I'm not well-versed on the subject, but there are lots of FTA receivers that'll do what you want (i.e. receive c/ku band programming and drive a rotor), Pansats being only one. The question is what type of TV programming are you looking for. If you want both free and commercial programming (eg: encrypted like Dish, Bev), I'm not sure if a firmware modded unit would work.

Personally I use a stand alone positioner for my big boys. I wouls suggest a 4dtv receiver but that is being phased out at the end of the year. Many fta stb are excellent with an fta dish such as pansat, coolsat and fortec.

I am using a coolsat 8000 with a V-Box to drive my BUD. Works fine
I'm also using a VBox, but like Costactc I have a IRD on back up.
VBox / GBox are about the same thing. Your receiver will give the commands to the box & it will move the dish.
GBox is probably a little better & can be picked up at Sadoun
VBox can be picked up at Galaxy Marketing.
Are you also looking for a receiver?
Do you need a new LNB/LNBF?
Sounds like your system might be several years old:noidea:
Please let us know

We all know that the above mentioned stb will not move your dish and that a stand alone positioner is required. I'm also using an old Toshiba ird for my 6' setup and an AP Pansat 3500 with my 10' bud.

If a person doesn't mind having a big BUD analog receiver sitting around just for moving their dish you can still find some of the old analog BUD stb's on Ebay, usually in the $10-20 area plus shipping.
There are only a few channels that you can still get with an analog BUD receiver like C-span, QVC, etc.

I just got a GI 920 from a member here but I haven't tested it yet. I've heard that 4dtv will end at the end of December. I wouldn't invest in something that is being phased out, get yourself a stand alone positioner. I would recommend the Pansat ap3500.

Are they going to discontinue subscriptions on W5?
I heard that $kyvision had a patch for the DSR920/922 boxes

I'm not sure Gold. Beano has been telling me that it's all coming to an end in December. All that will be left is to use the box as a positioner and maybe some open analogue channels.

The old 4DTV service that has subscription programming located on several different sats is supposedly still going away on or about Jan1, 2011 but Skyvision has already placed their channel packages all on one bird - W5 @ 105w.
I assume they leased space on W5 for their channel packages, it has all the same channels as they have on their old 4DTV packages that are spread out on the different satellites.
I have my 4DTV subscription through Skyvision and so I called and talked to a guy at Skyvision a few weeks ago and he said right now you need a DSR-410 digital receiver to get their non-4DTV packages of W5 channels but he also told me they do indeed have a patch for the 922's and 920's but he wasn't sure how they will get it out to subscribers so receivers can be patched, at the time I called he didn't know if people would be able to patch their receivers off the satellite or not, he said "i'm not sure we will be allowed to do that" so it sounded and led me to believe that it was likely a legal hurdle.
He also indicated that I might need a new LNB.
That guy told me that the Jan1 shutdown came as a suprise because their contract for support doesn't actually end until 2012 so this dumping of 4DTV is happening a year early in his opinion.
I've been keeping my eyes open and holding out from buying a DSR-410 in hopes that they will anounce a release of the patch over W5 for my 922, I may call them again in a couple weeks if I don't hear anything, they haven't said anything in my latest subscription billing.
If you go to ( skyvision.com ) you will see on their front page where they have an advertisement for the DSR-410 and channel packages.

so hold on a Pansat 3500 moves the bud?

The Pansat won't move the BUD on it's own, but it will be able to control polarity if you use a polarotor feedhorn with a servo. To move the dish, you need a Gbox positioner. This positioner works on it's own, or with any FTA box.
From what I understand regarding 4DTV, as of right now, only the DSR-410 has been confirrmed to receive the programming on W5, BUT Skyvision is working on firmware for the 920 and 922. Rumor has it that it does work, but is still in beta.... I wonder if they need beta testers.........

The guy I talked to at Skyvision didn't mention anything about it being in Beta phase or needing testers but if I don't forget I will ask about that when I call them in the next week or two. What he did say was that it worked on 922's and 920's that they tried it on there.
