once you dont have to program or modify a fta reciever with a third party file to get a channel, its true fta.

Hi Nam
Yes it is legal to pickup and watch programming from galaxy 19 – 97 west and lots of other satellites legally. Good question.
Enjoy.

Free-To-Air
Below is a list of channels In-The-Clear, free and legal to receive. Happy Hunting and please enjoy nam.

I have probably 300 channels that are 100% free & legal, It seems about (conservatively) 1/4 of those Di$h sells in their basic package.
I think that might confuse some people. I have a guy at lodge who tells me what I'm doing is illegal all the time. I usually just smile & go about my business, since I have told him a few times already it's not illegal.
There is no difference in legality issues in the list that Will gave you then watching channels with "rabbit ears" on your TV

It is entirely legal to receive any signals that are not encripted (scrambled). The average person thinks FTA is illegal because most sites refer to hacking as FTA,which is wrong.Receiving unencripted signals is incorrectly refered to as True FTA,which is wrong, its simply FTA.Hackers have stollen the term FTA (Free-to-Air) so to distinguish the 2,the legal FTA is often called 'True FTA'.97w does have some scrambled channels but you can't see them.G'luck

when i blind scan with a pansat 2700a, i get 249 channels(tv) i didnt check the radio list, because i dont use it.
the channels that a lock(scrambled) it not alot, if you skew your lnb good then you will get all the channels.

I didn't count them but you should have about 150-200 unscrambled,tv,depending on the size of your dish as som transponders are weaker than others.G'luck

Normal blind scans on Galaxy 19 usually yield about 250 channels of which almost 200 are not scrambled.

Dish Size isnt much of a matter with this satelitte , i can even use my hand with a lnb in it and get this,.
once you find the sat. jus skew your lnb and you get all the weak ones,...
i used a 19in, to catch this sat. and also a 8ft ,, and they both work the same.

I beg to differ with you on that. Several tp on Galaxy 19 are quite weak and barely give signal with even a 30" dish. I would recommend at least a 36" dish for that sat.

Sorry size of dish does matter as the footprint changes by location, you may get it on an 18" at your location but someone else may have problems at their location with a 39".
Look here for a footprint map for this bird.

I suspect Jam is as close as possible to being (at the same long.)directly under 97w as possible thus the shortest possible 'line-of-sight' to that bird. That's why it should be mandatory to have your general location showing permanently. It makes it that much easier to help someone,IMHO.
