View Full Version : getting the internet

On my gateway desk pc I reinstalled windon xp. It seems like it reinstalled just fine but I can not get to the internet. I have cable internet with a router hook to it. The gateway is runned staight to the router with the ethelnet cable. I feel like I am doing some thing wrong just don't know what, thanks for any help.

Turn off your computer and reset your modem and router, sometimes just unplugging wont do it actually use a paper clip to push the small reset buttons and hold for a few seconds. I had to do this to get an IP address before

check your device manager (Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management) and ensure network card has the right driver installed

I cannot find a reset button on the router or the cable modem which is very old. I go to device management and it seem like it does not have a driver for anything, they all have ?! beside them. I have never had a driver disc for the modem. This is the 1st time I have done this, so I know it me, lol, thanks again for any help

make sure device is enabled

Dummy me needs to get my net gear driver and I better that would help.
