Model 27A45C , 5years old CRT TV, without the remote control.
There is no menu button on the front.
Everything working fine, except it was on Antenna setting by previous owner.
I need to change to CATV for basic cable.
On the front, Power button, channel up, channel down, volumn up and volumn down. I believe Toshiba design on purpose. Otherwise it is stupid, if the remote control is dead. Then it will be big money to buy their own remote.
I got it from a friend moving out of the city. If all fails, this TV will go to landfill without mercy.
I tried an Universal remote control from surplus store, it won't work to go into Menu screen.

Any recommendation?
1. Is the Universal remote control from Walmart will work? It is $12. but I hate to return if it fails my expectation.
2. Any alternate front panel buttons combo will activate the Menu screen?

Thank you in advance

I tried another universal remote control, entered all available Toshiba remote control codes on the list (from internet). I still could not bring the TV set into Menu mode to change from Ant to CATV.
I called the authorized repair depot. it is $60 to order a real one. From ebay, seemed I may have the clone(?) for $19 plus shipping. Total around $25.
Well, I don't know should I spend that much time and money to do this experiment.

Thanks to my friend who owns a Logitech Universal remote which connects to Logitech data base to download the Toshiba Remote control file.
It works like a magic. I could change to CATV reception and scan all available channels. Then I just use my cheap remote control for volumn and power functions.
