I setup a moteck motor with a fortec 36-inch dish the other day and it was really a lot easer then I thought. I tried with my viewsat 2000 extreme receiver and had not much luck with it.
Was trying to use USALS settings and it just didn’t like it. I could drive the motor manual.
So I switched to a captive works receiver I got from e-bay for $25 dollars mailed to my house.
Hooked it up using USALS settings and had it tracking in about 5minutes. A bit of tweaking and that was it.
Works great. So far I can get from 89west to 125 west. Lots of trees blocking the east but
Will be dealt with one day.
Now that I have the dish tracking the arc I was thinking that I would do a factory reset on my viewsat receiver and try it again. I was thinking I should be able to swap receivers in and out from the dish. Is this right? I guess I will try and see.
Now I am saving my pennies for a 4-foot dish.
I would recommend a motor to ever one.

Awesome news Paul. You should be able to swap receivers without a hitch. I prefer using disecq instead of usals but no big deal. What lnb are you using?

You've tried a vs and cw, if you get a chance to score a cs5k or 6k, pansat 2500, 2700 or 3500 and a fortec you'll notice the difference immediately.

Man you seem to sing the same song as i,
i did the same thing with a V-sat but it never moved the motor so instead it messed up my set up i had with the Cworks,i had to do manually reset motor and hook it up to the Cworks again and everything went fine again,my conclusion is the V-sat ultra sucks,it scans sats but when comes to the motor it Worths nothing and Vivas to Cworks that is one of the Best receivers i ever seen,so you made a China deal to pay 25 bucks.

I use to use my vs ultra last year with my 36" motorised setup without any issues. However, I never used usals I used disecq to move my dish, initial setup takes longer because I manually setup my sats. I use it now for outside when I'm tweaking my dish or changing my feed.

Awesome news, Paul, now you need a BUD to add to your collection

He's told me in the past that he has tree issues. I think he might need a chain saw before a bud.

Thanks for the reply’s everyone.
Costa, I am using a standard L N B F. will keep a look out for the receivers you mention .I will try disecq on the viewsat see what happens.
Ramo interesting, viewsat dose do a much better blind scan then the cw600s but cw set up the dish right away.
Alex I am coming to your house some day to get a bud. Would like to set one up some day but yes the trees are going to have to go and there is about 30 at 60-80ft high. Cedars.
Thanks MX it’s a fun toy.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer.

Keep your eyes on ebay Paul. I recently picked up a cs5000 and a pansat 2500 for $20 each.

Viewsat is a tuff unit to run a motor,it can be done, save everything twice when locking the settings. Can be very frustrating....heehee.

Will do. Just been waiting for the time to get around to it and things have slowed down some so if I can get my truck (away from my son) for a day, I will pick at least a few of them up.
