I have had a Garmin E-trex legend (blue case) and has the annoying habit of freezing. A line appears in the center of the display and you cannot power up or down, you have to pull batteries and restart. Usually happens in the middle of the bush during hunting season miles away from your quad, the only time it gets used. Anyone have this problem? I was in Radio Shack and happened to hear a customer complaining about his Garmin also, they store owner was telling us that interference from cell provider towers could be a culprit?

When this happens ...do you have a clear view of the sky?
Or are you deep cover under the tree canopy? (ie..large hardwood or thick fir/spruce)

It happens either way, even in wide open area with clear view of all sats. Sitting stationary in one place also. Just cuts out after a certain amount of time. Never abused the unit, never dunked and gotten condensation.

Thanks for the reply..It's time to fall back on the software updates as mentioned above..
As I have only seen these units lock up when the loose signal or had the wrong date entered..
Cheers
