You can download a program called "winrar" here:
http://www.rarlab.com it will extract either format, and you can change it from .rar to .zip if you like..

right click and extract the compressed file to a folder. Then you can right click that folder and select compress that file. In the new window that will popup, there will be an option to compress it to a rar or a zip file. Enjoy!

Winrar should be able to create/unzip zip files.

and you don't have to pay for Winrar either; just download and install it; you will get a nag screen (to buy product) but just click Close and you can use Winrar for RAR and ZIP files indefinitely

7-zip also does the same thing as Winrar and is completely 100% free (with no nag screens)

You have to uncompress the file prior to loading it to your receiver -= it will not accept a file with a .rar ( or zip) extension.

rar is just a type of file compression
it needs to be extracted

I had used the program created by; human network that was as far as I got with it. So I was going to try Rar files when I get them opened. I may have my receiver screwed up in the pass months I had tried paying for a private server with no luck, never did get it work.
