Wifi has been working great for a long time, and today, everything is really slow, and I mean, Really...Slllloooowww ...lol.. download used to be around 200kbps now it's like, 2.7 kbps , worse than dial up, I checked out my pc, and checked the wifi dish, signal is still really strong, and getting the same thing on laptop, I rebooted the dd-wrt router, but still same thing , any ideas ?

btw, I also cleared cookies on pc, and ran defrag to see if that was the problem, but didn't fix it...thanks!

using wired, It starts out much , much faster, download starts at 187kbps , but then drops very quickly down to 5 kbps and even lower, very strange, as this has been working great for a long time now, I am using a linksys router with dd-wrt firmware as a repeater

Has anyone you know of bought a new cordless phone or someone in your area started up a new WIFI system of their own?
If you know how you can go into your router and WIFI card and change the channels from the default channel #6 to say channel #9*, this will tell if it’s an outside terrestrial RF interference or something in your system.
(* this should be done in the hard wired mode)
Also looking at the WIFI cards wireless connection setup (wireless networks near you) will tell you if there is a second system set on the same frequency close by, also have you setup the 128 bit encryption key on your system, if not you may have some hitch-hikers on your system that you may not know of.

ad-ware can slow you down too, check for ad-ware/spy-ware

internet went down completely last night, I tried messing with a few things, and messed it up worse, but I went through that set up the dd-wrt all over again, and got it working again, but still really slow, I am going to run a spyware progam to see if that works , thanks for the advice and I hope that takes care of it, this is worse than dial up...lol...

okay, I got it working again, I found that the lan had the correct IP that I changed it too, and wan had a different IP than lan, I changed it to correct one, and rebooted both pc, and router, and now it's back to being fast again...Thanks again, for all the advice...

Go get a program called "Network Magic" (its not free) it will inform you that your network has a problem with a popup, and the same thing if someone tries to get in, it also is very helpfull in troubleshooting a network/IP problem.
