Washington, D.C. (June 7, 2010) -- DIRECTV today launched a multi-room HD DVR service which enables viewers to watch a recorded program on any TV in the home.

The service, called DIRECTV Whole-Home, has been in a beta testing phase for several weeks. But beginning today, the program, which costs $3 a month, is available nationwide.

DIRECTV says it eliminates the need for multiple HD DVRs by allowing customers to record and watch programs in up to 15 rooms in their home with a single HD DVR. (However, you will need an additional HD receiver in each room to accomplish that.)

The Whole Home service, which requires a Broadband home network connection, includes the following features:

* Access to a single, combined playlist of all of their recorded programs on any connected television in the home;

* DVR controls in every room, including record, delete, pause and rewind functionality;

* Stop a recorded show in one room and continue watching in a different room;

* Manage your DVR playlist from any connected room.

* Set separate parental controls for each TV

* Watch recorded shows in HD in any connected room.
