View Full Version : do sat meters give false signals on overcast days

i was using my sat meter over the weekend to tune in amc4 and my meter was going crazy no matter where i pointed the dish in the sothern sky. i finally tweeked the sesativity to get it to half way work for me and found my bird. just curious:noidea:

Only if it's raining or snowing so hard you cant see across the street, then the meter will read a different signal then normal.

ic it had always worked great for me before but i was really having some trouble with it that day. i wasnt sure if it was like a c.b. catching skip or something. it might have get wet or something like that.guess the old meter was just havin a bad day!

Could have been a bad connection or some crud in the connector, did you try new battery's?

And the down converted signal from the LNB is in the range of some cell phones and routers, (900 MHz to 2.5 GHz) could have been some terrestrial interference.

the neihbors have a wireless computer set up ,ibet thats whats doin it. they are about 10 feet from my dish.thats where i had my meter that day.ican move the dish to another spot thanks again!

I have a birdog if i set it to eco124 line of site. i do not need an lnd to feed it stell gets a high gane not Q but sig!. I think there are some birds that run on something like super high s or x band the one's that sud's use for the nave ship's it's all hus hus but thy have something and belive me it's a strong signall. sat band's that I know of C K ku ka and uhf allso but not used for fta are super band aka S-band fm I do think thy can use am to and have herd of an X band if you can trasmit it it's a band wif that can be used. the metter will pull in something close to it like CH 3 and 4 will give gost win bouth are used
