Hello all & Welcome to another Crazy Carl Real Review,
Today I will be covering the first couple days with the Buzz P6’s, software, buzztv app 6, what I like so far, and what I would like to see as this newest addition to the buzztv lineup makes its debut.
In my last post I reviewed the hardware of the P6 the box itself, and the remote.
Happy to report that after the first few days with the P6 I am still extremely pleased with the BT-500 remote, quality-wise we are talking better quality than the sofabaton series but just slightly less than the Logitech Elite series universal remotes. Great range, zero lag, and high build quality all contribute to a very well rounded and well-made remote.
In terms of the box itself, I will say that so far under testing it has stayed a steady cool temperature despite heavy strain, the green hue that signifies that the box is on leaks through the top part of the honeycomb pattern and looks incredible. The package itself comes with rubber port fillers that are also green to match the aesthetics of the rest of the box, underneath the box a little slit that can be easily pulled to reveal a slot for access to add NVMe (another great bonus to P6 users who plan to use this device for gaming and emulation.)
When first booting the box up it is recommend to then place your batteries into the remote and pair it, then the usual beginning set up, it is safe to assume that the first set of boxes that have been delivered will prompt you to update right away to the newest version (further revisions might change this) that has already corrected a few bugs and added a few features..(just another reason why buzz does a great job with products and software) after the update and the box reboots a new Buzztv App 6 theme is what you will be greeted with. Familiarity with improvements and new features are what enhance any already well-done layout and theme, in this theme we have the App player 6 access icons (Live TV, EPG, VOD, Recording, Server Settings) and underneath the installed applications on the device that scrolls to the left. Above this now are now new features such as a very powerful universal search that can locate Channels, Names, recordings etc, then a repeat of Livetv, a VOD and apps button that shows you the applications you have installed in full screen view. (Would like to see either the favorites line return or have the ability to mark apps as favs and have them appear at the front of the apps line in the future)
Buzztv App 6 player has received a very requested update! The ability to easily switch between multiple playlists that are also accessible simultaneously the layout and ease of this is very well executed, pressing okay and the bringing up the quick menu reveals more powerful new functions such as the universal search, settings, record and soon to be added feature (Multiscreen!!) More powerful and quite advanced recording features have also been added. Buzztv App 6 is trending to be the next step in Buzz’s playlist player with added features that build on its already impressively featured and easy to use application. Just in case you have maybe older user that as used to byzztv App 5 it is also still available to use if you so choose.
Other Applications: When looking at other applications everyone has their go to applications, I am still an oldie when it comes to Kodi. Kodi runs ridiculously fast using my usual addons on the P6 and doesn’t fret at very large file size’s it played 60-80 gig sized remux’s with ease and didn’t appear to even cause any strain. Plex runs extremely well and also has zero issues playing higher size file content. Until Multi-view is fully implemented on the P6 if you wish to experiment with other playlist players for bragging rights the P6 can easily push out 9 screens simultaneously without breaking a sweat I think I could say with confidence that it could easily do 12.
What I like so far: There is a lot to like about the P6 folks, Boot Times, Power, Speed, Buzztv app 6, universal search, advanced recording, Buzz Tv 6’s new theme/homescreen. The Green honeycomb light leak is hat tip to gamer’s and a nice premium extra, the remote is fantastic. NVMe support. I am sure I am missing things but as I test, I will update.
What’s Next?
-Testing Emulators (Gaming) (Recommendations for graphically intense games would be appreciated)
