Some of you know what I am dealing with as far as my dish setup. For those of you that don't I have a:

1m CM Dish
SG6000 Motor
QPH-031 LNBF

I want to mount this dish on the outside wall of my home, I don't know if anybody knows of a company that will sell a mount that will work. I was looking at the CM 9036 (google) and I wounder it that will work. I can not fine a weight load spec for the mounts. I figure after the pole and dish is on there its going to be heavy. I need to get it up to get over a couple of things and getting it up over the roof line will be great.

Any ideas on making my own mount or a company that does would be of great help.

Thanks
Dude

I was looking at the mount in the pic I have attached. I just didn't want to mount his dish up there and have anything buckle. The dish with out the motor is 25lbs and the motor is another few pounds.

Looks like a good mount, with the third leg at the bottom it will transfer the weight of the dish and motor to the wall.

However you must be careful on how you mount this to the wall, the legs need to be screwed into the studs inside the wall and the third leg also needs to be attached to a stud or cross brace, if not it will pull away from the wall.

What I do is run the mast all the way to the ground, this way all the weight is transferred to the ground not the wall, then at the 8 foot mark I use a wall mount to stabilize things.

Here is a photo of my setup.

that mount looks good you have there. . .as for carryin it all the way to the ground is another story. . .the dish only weights so much and the motor a few extra. . .dont think you need to over kill it or yourself. . .

my bud has to weight over 200lbs. . .the wall mount weights more than the bud with the motor. . .

ps: i dont know what your house is made with, but be safe. . .take it to the ground if that will give you a piece of mind.

The weight of the dish is not as important as is the force exerted by the wind on the dish. Looking at the pic posted in post #4 I would almost think that the mount with the third leg shoud be at the top but then I have been wrong before.

The mount you picture was intended for OTA antenna mast mount. It may work, but was not made to be used as a satellite mount.

If using this mount with a 1m dish I would take Terryl’s advise and run the mast pipe all the way to the ground.

If looking for a strong wall mount intended for satellite use check out Impakt Products

They carry mounts for dish’s in the 1m-2m range. They do cost more than the $30.00 unit you have pictured but are made for the purpose, and much stronger.

Guy's, anything will work as long as its sturdy enough to hold the motor ans dish and keep it from wobbling as the dish turns, you must remember that the dish and motor are mounted to the side of the mount, this adds to the angular momentum as the dish turns putting more stress than normal with just the dish alone in a fixed position.

The more weight you put on a lever with a small fulcrum the more you can move, so as the dish pans East or West it will stress the mount, if the mount is not sturdy enough or not mounted securely it will fail in the long run.

Also you must include any snow/ice loading (if it snows in your area) and any wind loading, if its mounted with sheet rock screws you might just see it go by the window in that big wind storm.
