Washington, D.C. (May 19, 2010) -- DIRECTV today added five new High-Definition channels, a few days after getting the green light that its new HD satellite was ready to go.
The new channels are: ESPNU (channel 614); WGN America (channel 307); Travel Channel (channel 277); MSNBC (channel 356); and Hallmark Movie Channel (channel 560).
DIRECTV last December launched a new satellite which it says will give it the capacity to offer 200 HD channels. The satcaster, which claims it now offers more than 130 HD channels (although some are PPV channels), announced last month that it would add 30 HD channels over the next few months.
DIRECTV earlier this month added Univision and Telfutura in high-def. The company has also announced that it will add the soccer channel GoLTV in high-def in August.
