What is the BESTBUZZTV box to get to record multi channels and record more than one channel at a time. IF this is even possible. I am trying to cut the cord and need to record TV shows for the Spouse!!

The newest box I have is the 4900 and it only records on channel and when I change back to Cable TV it stops recording and looses the steam signal.

Also maybe I need a new provider service. PM me if that information is not available to post.

Thakn you

You need a service that uses xc api to be able to record one channel and watch another
I can do that currently on my 4900

And obviously the service you use/get needs to support multiple simultaneous connections.
One of the popular services mentioned in these forums (with a sticky at the top of the IPTV server discussions forum), offers 2, 4 or even 6 simultaneous connections.

I only have one TV so only one connection is needed,,, right.
I just need to get multi channels on one Box and record. I guess I am confused (again or still)

you need at least 2 connections or when you change the channel the recording will stop

No you don't need multiple boxes.
When you get a sub with XC API type login, it can set limits on the number of simultaneous streams you can have (prices can vary depending on the service and max number of streams you want).

So when watching TV, that is 1 stream... If you are recording a channel and watching another channel, that is 2 streams (one for the LiveTV you are watching and 1 for the recording process). If you are recording 2 different programs and watching TV, then you need 3 streams. So each individual simultaneous video stream going into your box requires a separate stream.

Also the flexibility when you have more than one stream is that you can watch on 2 different TVs on the same account if you want. I have friends that have 3 TVs in the house, and they want to ensure they can have all 3 TVs watching something AND also be able to record something in the background, so he has a service offers 4 connections.

If you only have 1 box, and at most you'll be watching Live TV and recording 1 other show at the same time, then you need something with at least 2 streams.

Instead of inputting your info in mac addy portal enter your url username and password in xc api portal

Thank you. I have done that. So how do you get the multi connections ?
Doesn't it only connect the one xc API at a time?

If you are on XC API login, When watching live TV, if you press the Menu button, go to Settings, and then select "account info", you should see info regarding You account expiry date, then Max conn., and Active Conn... These specifies how many "maximum connections" you are allowed, and how many are presently active.

So if # of "active connections" is less than "max connections", and it needs to record another channel, it will automatically launch another stream to achieve that task. IF there are no more connections left, it will fail.

What does it list for your MAX connections ?
