View Full Version : New Quick Security Check on PayPal
Quick Security Check from PayPal
Trying to get through to PayPal, so far with success on this recent problem.
Just five days ago I used PayPal to do a transaction and all went well, but now I am trying to close a transaction on eBay, up comes a Quick Security Check to "add your mobile number".
I live in the Caribbean, and put in the codes for the country I reside in, then my mobile number.
PayPal's response to that is
"This type of phone number is not supported"
Tried again many times, no luck, tried another cellphone, again no luck.
Tried to contact PayPal many times, but that is like "spinning top in mud".
Has anyone encountered such a problem, and what was done to resolve it?

Yes happens everytime for me, I am not giving my # I just press back or other option and opens. They are not going to let you go without purchasing.

just skip it, or bypass it, that message comes up every-time I log into PayPal, I just skip it or "NEXT"
just click on "NOT NOW"
Thanks for your suggestions.
There is no "skip" "not now" "bypass" "next" with this new Quick Security Check from PayPal. It's no go, without you not adding a mobile number on signing in with them. As I said I did a transaction using PayPal about a week ago, and there was no such thing as "add mobile number"
By the way, I notice Amazon on signing in wants a mobile number, too, but they have the "skip" option there, for those who do not want to put in any number.
Why can PayPal do the same?
If PayPal keep on with this mobile number thing, they are going to lose a lot of customers. They have to find a workable solution to this issue, and not one that "terrorises" buyers and customers.

PayPal switched to a 2 stage a while awhile ago to a 2 stage login hence to register your mobile number so they can send a text with a code that you need to enter to sign in. Several organisation even amazon uses this now. Don't worry you cell number will not be exposed to anyone but your account and is safe to do so.

All I can tell you when I log into PayPal (this is on my PC, don't have a cell phone) I get the following message every time
CONFIRM your Mobile Number For Extra Security
(phone #) Change
Next
Not now
I just click on (Not Now) and I'm in or Logged IN, and don't have to put in a phone # etc.
Have to do this every time on PayPal site. I'm using Firefox Browser Win-7 PC
On a Cell phone it could be totally different I Guess ?
