Good evening,

I知 not sure if this actually means anything or I am over thinking things about the behaviour of this particular box running a vpn service.

I have loaded the box with the Ipvanish and cyberghost apk file to use as my go to vpn service.

Whenever either vpn service is activated within the box and I reconnect to tv, it would take at least a minute or so after the channels are loaded for the video to pop in.

In that 1 to 2 minute waiting period, the box would flicker off and on with the message of media format not supported.

I have never seen this message on a buzz e2 plus model , that box used to pop in the video immediately after the vpn was activated and reconnected.

I知 just wondering if that is my possible source of video freezing during the nfl games even though the vpn was connected to different cities. Just thinking out loud.

Thanks

I知 thinking about picking up a vpn router for the house.

I’m thinking about picking up a vpn router for the house.

My mom has the E5 and I have set up WindScribe pro the box, with Auto-connect at boot to a server in Greece. I have created a custom M3U file for her with a mix of channels from some public sources (which needs the Geolocation) and some from her wicked sub. Too complicated to tell her to switch servers depending on what she wants to watch, so this was the simplest way.

I don't have any additional flickering on channels any more than without the VPN. OK, it takes maybe a second to switch channels (assuming the wicked server is not lagging - like it was last weekend). The very slightly longer channel change time, is to be expected due to the distance of the VPN server, and the ping time is pretty high (at around 140ms to 150ms). It is a trade off, and she doesn't mind, just for the simplicity.

I have had similar results with keepsolid vpn (which is the other one I have). I have never tried ipvanish or cyberghost, but I know many using ipvanish without issue.

If you suspect the specific VPN, uninstall them both (to ensure they do not affect anything). Then you can try Windscribe if you want. If you create an account you get 2GB per month, and then if you add your email to the account, you get bumped to 10GB per month (limited number of servers on the free one, but you have a decent amount to choose from). OK, it is not a permanent solution, but with 10GB, you can get 2 to 4 hours of streaming (depending on the stream quality), which should be fine to test. BTW: If you download the windscribe android client, make sure to get the one for AndroidTV (ie: nvidia shield). The generic Android one is a pain to control with remote.

BTW: Are you using the Primary or backup player for LiveTV ? On wicked, the Primary player works best. The backup player is slow, and can throw the strange messages once in a while.

I’m definitely using the primary player since the backup is so slow.
I will load windscribe later this week and see if I get the same message media format not supported before the video pops in.
Thanks

I do not have the vpn setup to load to boot. I just navigate to the all apps location and start up the vpn manually.
Will try that and see how it behaves
Thanks

I setup the VPN to load from boot and voila, no more media format not supported message.
I have tried it 4 times since it has been setup to load from boot and worked perfect.
Will update if something changes.
Interesting I never had to set it up this way with the buzz e2 plus boxes.
Thanks everybody for your support.
