Ok, I got the SG6000 in mounted everything and I can't get any sats working after I get on dailed in.

For my location 82w is the one I need but for an hour I could not get anything to come up. I set the dish up for 83w I got that dailed in pretty good, I mean I was watching Leave It to Beaver. Then when I go into the menu and tell it to go to like 97w I get nothing just 75% signal no quality.

I am very confused on the whole motor setup, I have the adjustment for the motor plus I still have the adjustment on the dish's mount. Do I use the dish one still? What do I set it to? The motor elevation has me all messed up to becasue I put it on my location settings but from what I have it at now which is 83w is not even close.

I don't know what I am doing and if anybody has some suggestions on what I can try please let me know. I tried searching on the net but it made me even more confused.

I had it at what I thought was true south but from that point I have now idea what I am supposed to do.

Thanks
Dude

When you had it dialed in for 83°W, did you do any "tweaking"? By that I mean, did you adjust your dish's azimuth and elevation for best signal? Your true South should be your Latitude or closest to it. If off a couple degrees, motor should not be "zeroed" at that sat but as close as it can, before or after true south to stay on the arc.

What kind of lnbs do you have mounted on the dish ?

You have to adjust the angle on the dish and motor - based on your location . The user manual should have the appropriate declination tables.

I have a a QPH31 and I am using a Channel Master 1m dish with a SG6000 motor.

Your using Usals obviously. What was your signal quality on 83w? I prefer to manually move my motor with diseqc 1.2 and save each position. Many believe this way to be tedious but you get to peak your signal and once you've gone through all sats, dish will automatically go to desired sat.

I will have to double check when I get home but I think I was like 60s and 57q.

That's good quality signal for retro channels. I've set up a dish with usals years ago, not me expertise. As I previously posted, I use diseqc 1.2.

Usals does everything diseqc12 does plus . Once usals moves the dish to a selected satellite it can be fine tuned and the position stored - next time the sat is selected usals will go to the stored position.

If the dish and motor is not setup using the declination tables it won't make the slightest difference which method is used to move the dish - not going to get optimum signal ( if any)..

I agree with you Stan. If he's pulling in the retro channels with that type of quality signal, his dish is tracking well. Probably just a setting for motor.

It would appear that for the one sat he is getting the dish was tweaked.

The way I read this topic, the guy never had a zero point and just moved the dish around to find a signal.Cant be done if you want to see any other sat.As my dish is still fubared I can not confirm any fta stuff untill I get permisssion to kill some tree's in my path.I hate bylaws and tree's growing past where I want them to stay.

This is exactly what I did. I don't know how good the Iphone compass is but I put that on top of my LNB and found true south and after that I had no idea what to do. I don't know what to adjust as far as the motor elevation and dish declination I put the motor on what dishpointer said my location was but the dish declination I have no idea what that is and how to set that.

Also, how do I store the SAT? I go into USALS and put in my numbers and then what do I do I just save it correct?

Thanks
Wade

Storing a sat, depending on the stb, is usually an option when you attempt to exit from the menu. Your stb will give you the prompt and you save each sat accordingly.

Well I think I got it, let me know if I am on the right path.

First I am going to reset my motor and make sure its zero
Second find True south
Third I am going to set me dish elevation 40d - my declination
Fourth go to Usals and enter my lat and long then go to 83w
Fifth fine tune 83w if need be
Sixth go to 97w and check

After watching Sadoun's video again for the fifth time I think I got what I need to do.

Thanks
Dude

Well I got to mess with the dish some today and got 4 sats to come in. I found out that the pole I am using to test on is to weak. I used concret and when I mound the dish it is not level. So, I am running to home depot tomorrow to find a way to get the dish up on my eve.

Updates coming.

Thanks
