I have a friend that is having a constant freezing issue(every 2-5 seconds) It's been working fine till today. I checked the server with my Buzz X5 and no freezing whatsoever. He rebooted both modem & firestick. He lives in a different province so I can't go over to personally check it out. I can only think it's an internet issue. Any ideas?

If that's the case shouldn't my box be freezing?

Could both freeze if you have the same internet provider, it sounds minor thou.If hes using a VPN change the city. Cogeco/Rodgers/shaw are the worst for throttling and blocking, maybe try hard wiring the stick with an adapter to eliminate wifi dropping out.

To eliminate wifi, intranet and internet have him run an amazon prime movie, or netflix movie. If it streams fine, that eliminates everything I said and leaning more towards blackout/throttling of iptv streams, meaning use a vpn. Wireguard works best in my opinion, at least for my clients and myself.

I believe it was an internet provider issue. Everything is working flawlessly this morning. It decided to fix itself. Thanks everyone with your suggestions. The support is awesome here!

Number 1 rule is reboot modem and device before bothering people. Amazing how 90% of the time users don't do that first before wasting everyone time when the answer was that simple. Most common response is why should I, my phone works fine. aaaugh!

This person has numerous subs with me. The first this they said they did was reboot both the modem and the Firestick. They did Rule Number 1. We went through a few other things before I posted in the forum.

I have to tell ya I have a firestick and hate it. I put it in the bedroom and we never watch it. It's a slow sluggish bloated POS.
I'll use my buzz4900 anyday.

Sorry, but no firestick is coming close to an xrs4900. Not even close.
Is the firestick better than most crappy Chinese android boxes you find on amazon, sure. But if you have never tried an xrs4900, don't try to compare it to a firestick. In comparison, I agree with the previous poster, the firestick is junk. And not for any non-technical people. Grandma would not be able to set one up for basic IPTV.

several years ago a bartender offered me $30 to fix up her firestick and load a kodi build plus several other apps
I went home and smashed it and brought her back a panda loaded
I never heard one complaint and she still uses it and updates all the apps herself

the price difference between a firestick and a vidstick isn't that much
and vidstick has builtin buzztv 5 app for iptv
firestick wasn't made for iptv

Brings back memories :) I did the same when my brother-in-law brought me his firestick. No way I was going to waste my time getting that thing to do something it was never intended to do.
For reference, it is this box (great bang for the buck at the time):

Today, the new Buzz B5 and E5 budget friendly boxes are the go to boxes for my friends (and family) looking to get started with IPTV. Best experience, and makes all the non-techies feel like it is just another cable box, and barely any learning curve.

don't need an amazon account to use a firestick
I loaded a kodi build to the bartender's stick and she doesn't have an account

Fire sticks were fine in the past, its there constant bloating of apps you cant delete causing storage issues. Then amazon rolled out an update that locked developer unknown sources option. With a work around on some models you can get it back working. On the next amazon update when they block 100% of unknown sources as they move to join roku with a controlling device with nothing but pay options. It will be useless to anyone that belongs to this site. I have a few sticks and a cube as well as two firetv boxes. I also own a Firetv 55 inch television which the latest update screwed me large. The software no longer has a CEC option so I cant use one remote. Amazon is to big to care, I cancelled my Prime account last week.

Best budget box in my opinion is the new E5. Same CPU as the flagship X5, but cuts a few corners with less memory and onboard storage (which has no side effect if you are using it primarily for IPTV), and includes only IR remote instead of a Bluetooth remote.
https://canada.buzztvglobal.com/products/buzztv-e5-pre-order
During the holiday period they had a few promo codes and there was a 10% discount, and combined with the free shipping over $99, which made it a no brainer.
Here is a coupon for satfix users (10%):

I use a tivo 4k stream or a google tv for travel, instead of a fire anything. They both are the same price as amazon or cheaper. They dont throw apps at you or try to control your viewing. I have 3 nvidia shields around the house and a couple Buzz 4900"s. I picked up a couple Onn pendants at walmart same price as tivo, work well, but appears they cant keep them on the shelf. I dont promote any device I judge them by there performance. Price wise your choice all work well and if you know of one thats good out there let me know. I enjoy messing with something different.

$99 in Canada ? Don't know where you saw that. No.. The E5 is $149 in Canada. The B5 is $99. It s also a nice box and perfect if you are using just IPTV on it. But the E5 is a slightly better box.
The E5, with coupon and free shipping in Canada, comes to just over $150 all in (with current coupon). During the Holidays I got an e5 for a buddy, and it came out to $134 (all in) with the holiday coupon.

Keep in mind that these boxes are NOT netflix certified (very few are) and therefore the version of netflix installed on them is the generic Android version (not androidTV), so you will need a mouse cursor to navigate.
For mouse cursor control, I would recommend a remove like the ARQ-200. Would add simple gesture based mouse cursor control, and since it operates using RF (using USB dongle), you don't need line of sight for the remote (like most IR remotes).

it uses wifi
Well.... Sort of :)
WiFi is RF, but it is specific channels only that are part of the 802.11 standard which defines WiFi. In this case, the remote uses general RF, since it is not the channels that are used for standard internet routers and all :)
So technically they are close. WiFi is RF, but not all RF is part of the WiFi standard.
I like the quick definition someone put on wikipedia:
Wireless LAN (WLAN) channels are frequently accessed using IEEE 802.11 protocols, and equipment that does so is sold mostly under the trademark Wi-Fi
So these remotes are RF, but not really Wi-Fi :)
