Hello gang, I am remembering my hobby of some decades back with President Lincoln CB Radio modified for CB 40 channels, it seems I can't find a online store where I can get one already mod for AM 40 channels.........I also had Ranger 2950.....TP

They dont mod them anymore for 40 channels, they all come stock with 40, and bestbuy dot com has them.

Then I'll have to buy one and mod it my self, I prefer the upper and lower side band functions that a normal CB radio doesn't have.........TP

Then you want a Cobra 148 GTL, it has USB and LSB, and I cant give you links to the modded ones as I'm a ham.

The Uniden Bearcat 980 is a good one.

And too bad the Cobra is discontinued, it was a very good radio.

And after looking around I find the some CB radios now come with FM modulation, man what a change.

Terryl, the President Lincoln and the Ranger 2950 are 10M radios modified for Citizen's Band, I do remember the cobra you mentioned, I actually had one long ago with a Midland and Lafayette, the Lafayette was so old it had 23 channels only

My first radio only had 6 channels, and to change to other channels (other then the 6 you had) you had to change crystals.

If you are still looking for a CB you can google Copper Electronics... They sell everything 11m(CB) and 10m (most 10m all mode radio's have 26-30mhz TX/RX right out of the box, Simple mod or right in the settings menu)
