Does anyone use the 4500 max for recording? Is it easy to program it to record and can you record one channel while watching another?
Also, which is the best buzz box for recording?
Thanks
I dont have 4500 services but if your buzztv has buzztv 5 instead of 4 then yes you can record one or more and watch another using XC api/m3u option depends on your provider. if your provider gives you more than 1 connection then you can record one and watch another.
recording is easy on all. :)

Ok, so without the option for a 2nd connection, you can only record whatever channel the box is on......Are the newer boxes like the X5 and above better for recording than the 4500 or do they all work about the same? Like having the box turn on, record a certain channel and turn back off when done.

same
if you want to save a lot of recordings get an external drive

I just tried the recording feature with my xr 4000. I set it to program at a certain time and stop. The box did't even turn on but it recorded what I set it for...(15 min record) Neat but isn't it supposed to turn on and off when done?
This is something my neighbour was asking as I never use the record feature.....Until today....lol
Last...I know some of the newer boxes, you can add an SSD inside. Is an external drive just as good or is an internal ssd better?

I use this recording feature all the time for sports and it has never let me down both on the 4500 and 4900 units
