Does it have a Lan port or Ethernet connection (need internet for IKS) ? IF not then I doubt it, and don't think it's
Able to do HD, sd Maybe.

What box would be able to accommodate my needs? My understanding is that I am going to have to find something used. I appreciate your help.

I'm located in the US unfortunately. Already have the satellite set up, just need a box and a US service. Are there any boxes that are easier to find?

That would depend on if you want the HD Channels or just the SD ones, & if you want North or South service and where you live
A Sonicview 8000HD with Dongle, Dreamlink-T4/5 (hd module installed for HD channels) Jynxbox clone come to mind
I suggest you do some reading on the ones I have suggested under each of those receivers listed & IKS Forum.

Will a GTMEDIA device work? I will get to reading and report back. I had no idea I needed a dongle for the sonic view for instance. Information for this is scarce compared to iptv.

Edit: Outside of the sonicview without a dongle, I cannot find any of these devices on ebay.

No New Fta receivers being made anymore, only used which are Harder to find NOW they sometimes
show up on Kijiji/Ebay etc. More & More going/moving to IPTV

More than anything, I am chasing after nostalgia. How rare are these devices? Why is the dongle necessary for the sonicview?

The Sonicview needs a Dongle because it has no ethernet/lan port, the dongle with software added converts the internet
function through a Null Modem cable or cross-over cable hooked to the back of the receiver.
The FTA Receivers (used) that you are Looking for are SLIM-Too-NONE
At this Stage-Of-The-Game (Hobby) FTA Receivers are not worth CHASING NOW especially when everybody is
moving to IPTV, & Support for those Receivers ended Long ago.

Looks the GTMEDIA box only does FTA. Don't see a dongle or Lan port. Saw a couple of Jynxbox on Ebay for $93.00 bucks.

Does everyone here use the same IPTV service? My thought process was that IKS would be better because it is coming directly from the source.

You will have to do some reading etc. in the IPTV Section, I haven't joined that bandwagon as of YET ?

That's unfortunate. Are there still 110 and 119 services out there? I'm just amazed at how little information there is on this compared to other things.

Limited hd channels available with any of the highly unreliable south services (and they ALL are).Good hd channel lineup on any of the north service providers here .The north services are very reliable.Keep in mind any service you chose to watch hd will require a turbo 8psk module.I would stay clear of the SV8000 because it's in most cases the oldest hardware you will find, & well used at that.It is also cursed with a dongle arrangment for internet that can be problematic.I have 2 complete SV setups with many spare parts that won't see service again, for the reasons I mentioned above. You are then obliged to find a dreamlink t4/t5/t6/hdv2 with 8psk module, a jynxbox with a jb 200 module, or one of the other very few models that decode turbo 8psk modulation.Another point of concern is the lack of supprt (o.e.) availabe for anything you may find.Good luck.

My satellite is unfortunately pointing at South. Unless I wanted to watch North, are there really no alternatives available for South? I don't mind IPTV, I just wish I would have had the opportunity to try out IKS while it was a tad more popular.
