i picked up another sv8000. this one had every problem in the forum. i dragged her kicking and screaming from unfunctional, to pretty dialed in. factory reset, systemclean, proper bin, had to manually change all the tp's, numerous unexplainable problems, and even stranger fixes. kinda like the magic blow from way back in the nintendo days. the one thing i can't get going is the sound from hdmi. i can confirm sound over digital optic. thanks

First make sure all settings in the SV8000 & TV match up, and or Try a another HDMI Cable
Possible loose HDMI Connection in the SV8000, cause I had one with same issue, had to use component for hookup

If the sound output is set to AC3, try switching it to PCM.As Auggie suggested, make sure all the setting jive.

so the tv settings are pcm and bitstream. on the stb there are 2 diferent places to change sound options as far as i know. first, in user setting, there is the option for auto dolby select. and in a/v setting, you can switch between pcm, and dolby. i have tried different combos of configurations with no luck.

You may need to get something like this: hxxps://www.amazon.ca/Portta-N3CVTRH-Component-Converter-support/dp/B0088HO1UC/ref=sr_1_5?crid=1CY9JZV51TSIY&keywords=component%2Bto%2Bhdmi%2Bconverter&qid=1636671570&sprefix=component%2Caps%2C234&sr=8-5&th=1

I had this issue once before with a 2.0 version of an HDMI cable.Swapped the cable 3 times and still no sound.Grabbed an older 1.3 version fixed my issue.I've run this box for about 8 years myself and currently still run it.The only issue I have ever encountered with them is the display slowly dying and of course the capacitors in the power supply. But,I re-did those years back and up'd the voltages in the secondary and it's blazed ever since.
