Pretty sure however, that if you want to record one channel while you watch another, you will need to ensure your service allows at least 2 connections (since each stream is considered as one connection).

However if you just want to record while you are away, or record what you are watching, then as dishuser mentioned, almost any service will allow it.

The recording experience however is dependant on the device you choose. Many iptv boxes will allow you to use a microsd card, usb stick or usb hdd to record to. Something like the BuzzTV xrs4900 even has a nice slot underneath, and you can install a 2.5" SATA hard drive as your storage device. I have installed a 2.5" SSD on mine and the thing is blazingly fast for playback, searching, etc..
If you use a generic android box, then it all depends on the software you choose. Not all software is created the same.
